From the Grade 9/10 Coordinator
A big welcome back to school and congratulations to students on a fantastic start to 2024!
As we embark on a new academic year, we extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to all our students returning and beginning at Huonville High School. It is with great enthusiasm and anticipation that we greet each and everyone of you, ready to embark on a journey of learning, growth, and discovery together. The school community is thrilled to have you all back on our campus, where your presence brings energy and joy to the school. As we reunite after a well-deserved break, we look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, knowing our dedication, curiosity and resilience will help us to achieve great things this year.
In our school, we have clear and consistent uniform expectations that are designed to promote a sense of unity and pride among our students. As Year 9 and 10 students, we set the standard for our younger peers. Our uniform policy outlines guidelines regarding attire - by adhering to these we demonstrate respect for ourselves, peers and the school community. The high expectations on uniform include not wearing hoodies underneath our shirts; however, a navy long sleeve top is permitted. Ensuring that we are wearing our school polo top and navy pants will help us build a sense of belonging and identity within our school community. We appreciate the cooperation of students and parents in upholding our uniform expectations and maintaining a positive atmosphere to conduct learning.
Term 1 has been getting increasingly busier. Our Year 10 students had a fantastic visit to the Trade Training Centre, which allowed students to explore their choices and look forward to what 2025 has in store for them. Our Year 9 students have begun their NAPLAN testing; this testing provides valuable data on students’ literacy and numeracy skills allowing us to identify areas of strength and areas that need improvement. We are very proud of their efforts so far and greatly appreciate their cooperation in assisting us to facilitate their future learning.
Year 9 and 10 students, we are very much looking forward to what this year has in store for you.
