Huon Valley Trade Training Centre (HVTTC)

The Huon Valley Trade Training Centre (HVTTC) is a purpose-built, industry-standard facility that connects both school-aged and adult learners with local industries in the Huon Valley region.

We offer access to accredited Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualifications, industry taster programs, and vocational learning experiences with a strong focus on employability skills.

Hands-On, Workplace-Focused Training

At HVTTC, learners develop real-world skills in industry-replicated environments, supported by experienced trainers and local industry partners. Our state-of-the-art workshops are designed to prepare students for immediate entry into the workforce.

Training is offered at Certificate II level in the following industries:

Aquaculture
Engineering
Construction
Automotive
Hospitality
Agriculture & Horticulture

These programs are delivered over one or two years, leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

Built in Partnership with Industry

Our training is developed in collaboration with local businesses and informed by current industry needs. This ensures learners gain relevant, up-to-date skills that align with the local workforce.

Our goal is for students to finish their training job-ready and able to hit the ground running.

Programs for Adult Learners

The HVTTC also supports external colleges and training providers in delivering programs for adult learners who are looking to:

Upskill or retrain for a new career
Complete a nationally recognised VET qualification
Participate in short courses or hands-on industry tasters

Hire the Facility

External training organisations are welcome to hire HVTTC facilities for courses, workshops, or community training events. We offer access to industry-standard equipment and specialised spaces, including:

Short courses (e.g. First Aid, Safe Food Handling)
Industry tasters (e.g. a local chef running a hands-on kitchen workshop)

Who Can Access HVTTC?

The HVTTC is co-located with Huonville High School. We welcome:

Full-time students
Dual-enrolled students (Years 11 and 12) from other schools in the southern region
Adult learners from the wider community
Registered Training providers
